ABF Freight Road Driver interview questions

The interview process is very thorough. HR does their job well and I'm glad that ABF is so selective about the drivers they put in their trucks. So many companies just want a warm body to hold the steering wheel. This is where I think ABF sits above the rest of the companies out there.

The hiring process took 3 months. I applied online through ABF jobs page. It took 2 months to process the online application. They asked for my 1099-G forms since I was laid off for a period of time due to my previous job. Once I provided that information about 2 weeks later I received a call from one of the HR to set up an interview. They wanted me to come in on a Tuesday or Wednesday for the interview. Unfortunately I couldn't attend due to my current job I couldn't get out of the truck. They did accommodate me the following Monday. The interview was a one on one with the Linehaul manager of that terminal and a tour of the facility. He took my answers down on a computer and sent that to HR. A drug test ( and hair follicle) , DOT physical, and road test followed about a week later. The road test consisted of a drop and hook of a set of trailers and road test. This took about 2 hours. After the road test they said you are hired pending you pass the drug test.
