Alliance for Financial Inclusion interview questions

The interview process was very frustrating. I was contacted by their HR from Kuala Lumpur via Whatsapp. I was told I would have a preliminary, informal interview just to get to know each other. That interview turned out to be all but informal. It was almost a cross-examination. Then I was constantly asked for my expected salary. When I named a number, they kept pushing me to confine to e-mail or Whatsapp that I would be willing to come down from that number. Finally, I was asked to prepare for an interview with the hiring manager. They sent me an e-mail with questions asking to give proof of experience of which it was blatantly obvious that I did not have from my CV. I was also asked to tell the hiring manager 'one thing about the company which he did not know himself already'. Given the fact that the hiring manager had been an employee of AFI for more than 6 years and I only had access to public sources, that seemed neigh impossible to me.

Applied via LinkedIn and heard back from the HR in couple of weeks . HR round was usual stuff about understanding my work and exploring suitability. Next round was with a panel comprising the reporting manager, peer and some other guy from another department. Interview focused on understanding my work , few situational questions and my understanding of the role I was applying for . Heard back from HR saying that I was through to the final round where in had to prepare a case study on my understanding of green finance and how I would pitch it to their member banks. So, anyways the final round included a panel of reporting manager , HR Head and a guy from another department. I had presented my case study and most questions were focused around that, few situational questions . It was a very open and honest discussion (atleast I thought) and they appreciated my efforts and said will get back to me . Honestly it felt like I answered all their questions and it felt like they were convinced about it . While the interview and process was honest what was troubling is they had no vision about their work, it was more like green finance is a buzz word so we have to do it tone . They didn’t had a specific goal they wanted to achieve through this program other than maybe seek funding . I am not sure they can substantiate their work outputs beyond fancy reports which they themselves admitted no one reads in detail so there’s that . Anyways I didn’t hear back from them after my final round , when I followed up few times they sent their usual regret email saying bla bla . The HR person who was typically in touch with me over Skype throughout didn’t bother to reply back when asked for specific reason for my rejection so I can work on them to improve didn’t bother to reply and just blocked me . I had interviewed for this position almost 10 months back , so definitely not writing this feedback as knee jerk reaction or out of spite but hopefully can help other applicants that this is an organization that I believe exists to seek funding and nothing beyond no real purpose no real value .
