I recently participated in the recruitment process for a position at Anthropic, and I feel compelled to share my experience in the hope that it will lead to improvements for future candidates.
Although I was enthusiastic about the opportunity to work for Anthropic, I was disappointed with the overall interview process, specifically concerning the inexperience of the interviewers on the talent team. Throughout the interviews, it became apparent that the interviewers lacked the necessary experience to assess my skills and qualifications adequately. Their questions were generic and did not delve into my technical expertise, relevant experience, or how I would contribute to the company's success. As a result, I felt that I was unable to showcase my full potential as a candidate. Furthermore, it is disheartening to think about how many talented candidates may have been overlooked due to the shortcomings of the current recruitment process.
In a competitive job market, it is essential to ensure that interviewers are well-equipped to identify top talent, which ultimately contributes to the company's success. I strongly recommend that Anthropic invests in hiring more experienced recruiters who are skilled at identifying top talent. This would not only enhance the candidate experience but also ensure that the company can attract and retain the best talent in the industry.
I hope that Anthropic takes this feedback into consideration and makes the necessary changes to improve its recruiting process. I believe that with more experienced recruiters on board, the company will be better positioned to find the right fit for its various roles and ultimately achieve greater success.
Everyone's time is valuable, and I wasted a considerable amount of time speaking with junior recruiters at Anthropic, who are inadvertently hindering the hiring of skilled talent.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Anthropic (New York, NY) in May 2025
Interview
You start off with a recruiter then the hiring manager. If those two go well then you go into virtual interviews with team members and stakeholders, then the last step is to meet with leadership.
The recruiter sped through the interview and barely gave time to ask any questions. It didn't seem like they were really listening to my answers just picked up the last sentence. They didn't seem passionate about their own company which was a bit upsetting. It felt very robotic and less genuine.

Question 1
Asked me if I was given feedback how did I improve on it?
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Anthropic in May 2024
Interview
I came in through a referral, and was connected with a coordinator for a screen. I've been recruiting for a long time, and was having to explain basic metrics and data to this coordinator around recruiting. When I asked about next steps, she told me it would be to talk with a recruiter. It was actually shocking how bad the process is, given that many people I know work there.
