I was contacted through LinkedIn by a regional sales director. After an initial phone interview I was called in for an in person interview.
I was asked several standard questions for a sales position: what does a sales cycle look like in my current position, and how would I apply that to the new position; how would I meet their sales targets; what do I like about sales.
While I got no read on the interviewer in the meeting, I felt the interview was neutral to positive. After this second interview, I didn’t hear from the company again.
I reached back to the interviewer a couple times over the following weeks, but got no response. While I understand they chose to go a different direction, I value feedback even when I don’t get the job, or at the very least, an acknowledgement of my time and efforts. It was especially disappointing given they had contacted me first.
I don’t know if this is indicative of the individual who interviewed me, or the company at large, but it left a bad taste. Most interviewers will at least have the courtesy to give the “no” answer.
