Applied online. A recruited reached out to me for a 30 minute introduction call. Later, I was asked to do a home assignment which takes anywhere between 2-7 days to complete. It basically requires to design a classification CNN, train it on a dataset, evaluate the results and upload everything on Github. I did this promptly. It took me two whole days to complete it. Once I sent the assignment to them, they did not acknowledge or reply for the next 20 days, in spite of repeated follow-ups from my end. After 20 days, I received an email stating that the hiring manager was very impressed and would like to proceed to the next round. I replied immediately with my available dates for the next 2 weeks. However, no reply for the next 2 weeks, again with repeated follow-ups from my end. After two weeks, I sent the recruiter a detailed email about this and the recruiter replied stating that they probably won't be proceeding with me as the hiring manager is more interested in other candidates, however, it sounds more like a mishap from the recruiter to schedule it and is just saving themselves. Also, it is unfair to expect candidates to spend 2-7 days on an assignment and then just ghost them.
