      Sales Manager Interview

      23 May 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      White Plains, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Bankers Life (White Plains, NY) in May 2016

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter after having posted my resume on a few different job sites. They told me that I was an excellent fit for either a position in consulting or sales management. I expressed interest and she scheduled me to come in for an interview. I read on Glassdoor after ended the phone call with her and read about 20 other reviews that said that this wasn't a real interview. I decided to go anywhere, and sure enough the other Glassdoor reviewers were right. I arrived and they said "You're here for the briefing". I said "No...I'm here for an interview". They showed me into the briefing room and said it was not going to be an interview after I drove 30 minutes to the office. I sat down with about 10 other people and listened to an employee give a never-ending speech about the company. For an hour he discussed the core values of the company as well as the desired soft skills, the community service projects of the company, their products, and their growth rate. It was a red flag that I "interviewed" in May of 2016 and their presentation only included information up to 2012. The presenter insulted me and assumed that just because I am a recent college graduate that I must be rich and get all the money I want from my parents (when in reality I am in mounds of student debt). He read off the slides and made little sense while being very boring. The office was incredibly small and quiet. No one was friendly or social, not even the secretary! There were about 20 office employees stuck in tiny little cubicles that made the office look like a phonathon office. All of us at the "interview" were lied to and shocked to discover that we weren't actually being interviewed. The presenter would not stop bragging about the company and why they are the best and in only bragging for an hour he made me realize how bad the company really is.

      Interview

First interview is a mass presentation selling you on why you should work there. They do a good job selling the company and making it sound enticing. They do not tell you how compensation works, other than you get paid every week. Turns out it's commission based, no salary.

      Interview

Received a random text saying she saw my resume and she would like to interview me for the sales manager position and she offered a few options of times. That was it. I replied that I would like a phone call to discuss before setting. Got a text back with more info on company and she wanted to know if I was interested in interview. What kind of company refuses to call a potential person. Also I am a recruiter and I would never set someone without speaking to them first. Especially if they asked to speak to me first. After my research this is a shady comp with shady practices. I suggest you stay away.

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter and set up an interview for a management position. When I arrived there were 30 other people there at the same time. We were taken into a room and given a 1 hour sales presentation. We were told if our personality test scored in the range they wanted, we would be hired. They said a 2 minute interview would be all they would do.
