I interviewed at Black Math (Boston, MA) in Mar 2023
Interview
The interview is more like an information section because I have already shown them my work during the career fair. They want to confirm what date I want to start and end the internship and give me plenty of time to ask them questions.

Question 1
The interview is more like an information section because I have already shown them my work during the career fair. They want to confirm what date I want to start and end the internship and give me plenty of time to ask them questions.
Three years ago I applied for an entry-level animation position after college and was so excited to land an interview. On the call, the interviewer (who I believe is a partner) told me that my work was so bad that they would never consider me for an animation or design position, and that my work looked like it was made in MS paint. He told me they would never hire me as an animator when they could hire someone from SCAD who would perform the job perfectly. When I asked to know why I was interviewing at all, he then said he would offer me a role as a Junior Producer, as I had a lot of organization and management experience from running different clubs at school. I was humiliated and angry, and I immediately declined the offer, knowing that I wouldn't want to work in an office where the culture was so cruel. I now work as an animator and designer for top studios, and never have I once been treated as terribly as my single, 20 minute interaction with Black Math.

Question 1
They didn't ask me anything. They just told me that my work was bad.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Black Math in May 2019
Interview
At the time Black Math didn't have an office manager, so it was shaky organization from the start with one of the producers coordinating the interview between me and one of the founders. I skipped class for my interview but was left hanging on Skype for 25 minutes before the producer sent me an email asking if I could push the call to the next top of the hour. Later, he hops on Skype, said "hey [incorrect name], I have 10 minutes", took a 2 and a half minute PHONE CALL IN THE MIDDLE OF MY INTERVIEW while I sat there quietly, asked me ONE single question about myself after singing Black Math's praises for the rest of our time, had clearly never seen my resume based that one question and his confused/blank look when I tried to mention the name of my previous studio and a couple other things about myself, and then told me they could need me to start any time from June to September but he'd only be able to give me about a couple week heads up of the start date. Then proceeded to string me along via email for 2 months before finally confirming I had the job and sending over an actual contract.
