      Child Therapist Interview

      2 May 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Jersey City, NJ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Blackbird Health (Jersey City, NJ) in Apr 2026

      Interview

Horrendous interview experience. I got rejected for lack of experience despite almost a decade of providing child therapy and I knew that was going to happen bc of how weird the interview was and I have had plenty of hard interview experiences that still went well unlike this. At any job I’ve had, I have retained my full case load and always gotten positive feedback and been open to growth. Both of my current jobs I got by being connected to them from prior supervisors I had worked under because of the strength of my clinical work that they testified to, and most of the families I currently work with often share how the child is progressing well and doing better. I have had no issues interviewing for other similar opportunities and feeling like the interview questions are able to gauge and draw upon clinical experiences and examples, even challenging ones. Whereas I found some of these interview questions by Blackbird very confusing and hard to answer, not bc I can’t find answers to hard questions or discuss challenges, but because of the actual nature of the question being genuinely unclear. There were a few questions where I literally had to say I am not sure what you are asking or trying to have me convey. My point is that I don’t feel these interview questions brought out or highlighted any of the many rich clinical experiences I’ve had over the years.
