I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Bluon Energy (Peoria, IL) in Feb 2022
Interview
I went through an interview process where I spoke with Bluon's Talent Acquisition Manager and six different members of management. The process was designed to determine if I would be a good fit for the team, which I appreciated as it spoke to the importance the company places on maintaining a positive culture. All of the people I interacted with were friendly, approachable, and easy to talk to. Overall, it was a great experience and I felt that the team was genuinely interested in getting to know me as a person, not just as a candidate.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The interview questions were not overly difficult or unexpected. I would advise future candidates not to stress too much about preparing specific answers, and instead focus on being yourself and showcasing your unique qualifications and experiences. The Bluon team is more interested in getting to know you as a person, and how you would fit in with the company culture, rather than your ability to answer a set of predetermined questions.
There are 3 phases of interview process. 1st- Phone screening with the recruiter. 2nd- Culture fit, random questions are asked such as "what podcasts do you listen to?". 3- In person interview with managers. If they really like you, you will meet the CEO or COO.
Odd interviewing process. I had 3 separate interviews with 3 separate people and was told there would be a 4th interview. The interviewers were very kind and asked mostly culture based questions to find out about your character. What do you do for fun, what kind of movies do you like, etc. During the 3rd interview it was casually mentioned, "hey by the way did anyone tell you yet you have to fly to California to train and also fly in after every couple of weeks?" Obviously by the 3rd interview you would think someone would have mentioned this to weed out people who are not interested in that but nope. Seems excessive as within 3 separate interviews a candidate should know this information. I was surprised by this news (as anyone from out of state would be) and I'm sure ultimately that did not get me the job. Be prepared to fly out of state if you are not directly in CA and work weekends.
