I had two applications for the same role, but in different departments. The process consisted of three interviews - coding, technical depth and business case. In the first round of interviews, for the tech depth interview, I had to create a 15 minute presentation on a certain topic and deliver it to two principals in the department I’d work in. One of them, and I’d be willing to testify under oath on this one, was on his phone the entire interview, from start until the end. The only exceptions were when he was prompted by his colleague to ask me questions, when he did put his phone down to contradict me on things I never said or, incredibly, quote me on things I did say, but as if I never said them. The other guys was okay, but still very uninspiring for anyone in my shoes. They were also both late 10 minutes at the start, and did not even ask me how I was or exchange any pleasentries. Overall, I felt humiliated and I would never recommend Booking to any friend of mine, maybe to an enemy if I was in a bad mood. This was by far the worst interviewing experience I’ve ever had. The second application was better, and I passed the technical depth interview with ease, it was almost a boring interview.

I only had an initial screening round with a Booking.com recruiter. It was a very negative experience, worst I've had for a very long time. Interview slot was 45 minutes long, but only took about 10 minutes. I was constantly interrupted and it felt very rushed. The interviewer obviously wasn't too interested in my experience, kept asking inappropriate questions like what's your marital status, what's your current salary, whether project or position is more important to you. I have never been asked these questions anywhere and felt uncomfortable. After very negative experience I ended up removing the said recruiter from LinkedIn connections and they don't need to contact me ever again. I would definitely apply to Booking.com again in the future, but not be dealing with the same recruiter.
