What rubbed me the wrong way was that in the job description and initial phone call, he didn't discuss the requirement for working with data - spreadsheets, databases, data cleansing and manipulation. But in the interview, he said that since I was weak in that area, he wanted to pay $20,000 less. The job description was primarily around IT infrastructure which I'm strong at, so it seemed like a shady way to knock the pay scale down.
The other thing that was surprising was that the position wasn't directing much. It was managing yourself, some vendors & contracts and a couple IT help desk guys. It was pretty misleading.
