I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at City Catering (Seattle, WA) in Sept 2015
Interview
Submitted a resume online. They will call you in even if you don't have experience. The first interview is with the hiring manager. She's a really nice person. If you seem like a good worker, she will call in an additional manager or chef depending on which department you are applying for. If it's for the kitchen, they'll set up a time (about 2 hours) that you come in and work with a supervisor. You have to do everything that the supervisor or others ask. There's no hand-holding here. They want to see your sanitation skills and if you can set up a work station and chop some stuff. You'll probably be cutting vegetables or making a salad for staff lunch. Or, slicing bread for bruschetta.
The supervisor then reports back to the chef. If they want to hire you, the chef will call you in a few days. I'm not sure how it goes for servers or on-site cooks. But, they do hire a lot of people, so your chances of getting hired are very good. Also, if you hire on as a server, and need extra hours, they often have you work in the kitchen.
