      Designer Interview

      3 Jan 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Newcastle upon Tyne, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Disturbia (Newcastle upon Tyne, England) in Apr 2023

      Interview

The company reached out to me to apply for this role. I previously worked at one of their competitors. They even fast-tracked my interview process so that I would go straight to the design brief stage. Upon presenting the work to them, where I created more than 20 designs, and developed artwork and supplied fabric information, they stalled and then 3 weeks later said I did not get the role as they did not want someone from their direct competitor now work for them. Since not getting the role they have used/stolen my designs from this design brief. before undertaking this role, it was not expressed that they could use designs once the interview process was complete. I am devastated they would do this. The awful interview process was enough, but to see them steal a designer's work is just gut wrenching.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I presented my brief to them. They were very interested in my previous employer, their direct competitor. They asked questions that made me feel uncomfortable as they were not related to this role but to my previous employer.
