      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      5 Oct 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at EDF

      Interview

3 stages, one with a senior member of the team who explained the role and asked a bit about my experience. The second stage was a take-home tech test. The third stage was supposed to be a review of the tech test with some skill evaluation. However the interviewer was clearly inexperienced and hadn't done any prep, and it was obvious they were just reading questions from a screen. No follow up questions or probing my answers. The feedback I was given was that I lacked skills that weren't relevant to the role. He got my name wrong and asked about as job title I had never held.

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at EDF (San Diego, CA) in Jul 2024

      Interview

Multi-round panel interviews with management. They advertised the job as Remote but when they interviewed me they told me it was a Hybrid role at which point I said I wasn't interested since I thought it was Remote. They made me go through multiple rounds of interviews and wasted my time only to ghost me in the end. My guess is that they went with someone who was ok with working Hybrid. Overall I felt cheated and think that the company is following unethical hiring practices.

      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at EDF (London, England)

      Interview

First hr call pass. The second stage, 1 hour VP or Head of Engineer pass. The take-home task and final stage is an interview with team leads. Worst experience ever. Lack of communication, and unclear interview process I have ever had. The team leads were friendly and kind, but one of them had to leave meet in 15 minutes during code review. The second lead unclarified questions on expectations from the take-home task. I suggest do not spend time on take-home tasks. It's a meaningless xhr client.

Take home task to write Xhr client to request API's with javascript.
