      Interview

I really wish I had pleasant things to say about the interview process at Enova, but unfortunately I was very displeased with how the interviews were conducted. I had a first round via the phone with a Senior Recruiter that went well, but was surprised it involved a case study right from the get go. Thankfully I had done practice case studies prior to the interview, but was still surprised. I made it to the second round that was with the hiring manager where I was told this round would focus on learning my work environment behavior and skill set for the role. They highlighted this would allow me ample time to ask detailed questions about the role and department. The interview began roughly six minutes late due to the hiring manager's tardiness. He did not seem interested in learning about my experience, but rather took the time to review a second case study. I will highlight neither interview explained I would be doing a case study prior to the interview so I was shocked yet again. The hiring manager asked questions very specific to their business, rather than asking questions that would reflect problem solving skills. He offered about five minutes for me to ask questions where he provided little clarity on the company's culture and values. The interview ended and I was relieved to be done talking to him. If I had been advanced to the next rounds in person, I would have declined simply because I could not work with someone who did not have any sort of vested interest in learning more about the candidates. I read through other interview reviews and it seems this is probably the same person.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Enova in Feb 2012

      Interview

Spoke on the phone with an Alumni who was fairly high up in the organization and he forwarded my resume to HR. The Alumni was fairly disinterested during the 10 minute call. HR was friendly and prompt and set up each phone interview with no issues. I went through a phone interview with one associate who was nice and asked some basic questions already outlined here such as you have loan @ X rate, expected default is Y, are you making money/whats going on here? I was then scheduled for another phone interview with a second associate who was a terrible interviewer. He wasn't personable, didn't ask clear questions, english was meh and didn't make much of an effort to connect or communicate effectively. Sample questions include if you changed from a slide bar (on the website for consumer input in regards to loan size) to only having 4 cells in 50$ increments from 0 to 700 what 4 sizes would you offer and why? Also asked the standard 3 ants on the sides of a triangle probability question. On the operations side his call center had a high volume of calls and he wanted to know what I would do in that moment. My answer is I have no idea.. how many callers do you have? How many workers do you have? Why do people typically call? Is there a way to prioritize the callers? Do you have any systems in place to expedite calls or schedule call backs? There was way too little information and what could have been a fun question where we went back and forth and established a report instead was just delivered awkwardly. I was denied after the second phone interview which I expected after the second phone interview where I didn't perform well or connect with the interviewer. I wouldn't want to work with either of the two people I interviewed with and the pay/position is a few tiers below my other options.

      Question 1

None, understand the payday loan business and the questions should be fairly straightforward.

      Interview

Interview process was very in depth, which I appreciated. Good questions that were very analytic. Overall, I had a good feeling about the company and position. One negative is that the interview was very time consuming and should have been broken up into smaller parts. I also felt it was pretty insulting that after taking so much time (including PTO from my current job) to interview, I wasn’t even given the courtesy of a rejection. I was just ghosted

      Interview

Started with a pleasant conversation with the recruiting manager for the role who was very nice, easy to speak to, and insightful. The process quickly moved to a half day interview with the S&O team. I’ve been on both sides of the interview process and have never had such an uncomfortable experience. The manager round gave no valuable insight and essentially asked the same question over and over with no clear direction. Then what was scheduled as a 15 min wrap up call turned into opening with quizzing me on if I’m comfortable working in the subprime market and ending with a surprise math quiz. I left the interview feeling uneasy and unmotivated to continue. I would not recommend the team nor company, best of luck to the recruiting team.
