The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Flex in Jul 2009

      Interview

The company initially did a regular phone screening interview; a typical array of slow-ball questions. The recruiter then said he'd get back to me "one way or another" to let me know about the next step. Three weeks went by with no communication, then I got a call letting me know that they wanted to move the process along and would be contacting me to set up a one-on-one in a day or two. Two more weeks went by and then I was instructed to have a presentation ready in two days. I went to the interview with a full presentation (hand outs, PowerPoint, note cards, etc.); halfway into the interview, they let me know that they really didn't need a presentation- they just wanted to see if I'd do one. Also, the interviewers were not ready to interview- they were late and/or on the phone during parts of the interview. The interviewers tried to use clever questions, like how would I move Mt. Fuji; it was more the novelty of the question and not the answer- they chuckled at how clever they were. At the end of the interview, they let me know a VP would be calling for a follow up & she dida couple of days later. We had a good chat & later that day I got an offer based on a clean drug test and background check. I filled out all of their paperwork & took a drug test. A week went by & then I got a call from someone at a background check company asking me for further info; a company I worked for was sold & they could verify employment. I emailed her the follow up information & waited. Another week went by and on the day I was supposed to start they called me to pull the offer with no explanation outside of "The background company will send you the information they found" & they did; they said they couldn't verify my employment, but when I checked with the HR person handling those requests, she informed she had NEVER been contacted. My credit was also an issue; my ex used my identity after we split to get some credit cards (which I didn't know about) & those credit cards were in default/written off, so I was deemed unworthy to work for Flextronics. The only thing they said was "A persons credit reflects their behavior and when one has made a series of poor choices that reflects upon their behavior in general."
