      Portfolio Manager Interview

      16 Apr 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Forester Capital in Jan 2017

      Interview

Very stiff scripted B-school HR type questions and then a test "editing" a poorly written client letter. All in it was kind of amateur hour at HR. The guy who ran the interview/test seemed like he'd never worked anywhere else so he didn't really know how to ask follow-up questions or engage in the kind of give and take that lets both interviewer and candidate reveal their character in an effective and useful manner.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Everything hinges on the editing test and the canned HR-speak, "what was your greatest failure?" "Which historical figure do you most admire?" "What would you do if...."
