      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at GEICO (Pittsburgh, PA) in Jan 2017

      Interview

I did a phone screen, then completed a personality and spatial reasoning test online, then did a longer phone interview, then was invited to schedule the in person interview. I had my phone interview on November 20th and was not able to schedule my in person interview until January 4th because they "didn't know when it could be done." The in person interview: they sit you down in a small office by yourself, throw a bunch of papers at you, and tell you to listen to a recording. The speaker died halfway through the recording but that was fine because the instructions were on paper. They were using a cell phone to give the recording and it constantly kept getting calls. Unprofessional... They have you do a bunch of simulation tasks where they pretend to be angry customers, repair shop workers, or other Geico employees. They do not offer any hints and are very cold and impersonal. I took two or three phone calls, had to create a schedule for the day, had to fill out damage estimates, and I was also left alone in that room for up to 35 minutes at a time. After that, I had a 30 minute interview with the hiring manager, who asked me a bunch of stupid questions like "how do you feel about a micromanagement style..." They also informed me that there is a test every day for the first six weeks of training and if you don't pass you're fired; they told me that phone calls are monitored and graded; they said that failure to keep estimates under a certain average labor amount and failure to keep car rental days under a certain average would result in disciplinary action. Basically, Geico is trying to rip their customers off by punishing their employees if the employees give an ounce more of what the demand is in terms of labor times for payouts or rental car time. I had decided after thirty minutes in the interview that there was no way I'd ever work for a company as terrible as Geico. I'm so glad my insurance is not with them. The entire interview took 3.5 hours. I got a rejection email two business days later. This type of job is totally not for me and I am confident I will never try to work at a company this terrible.

      Interview

Good experience with this company and interview process. They asked questions pertaining to past job experience and questions regarding the job itself. The recruiter was nice and friendly, as well.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GEICO (Dallas, TX) in Jul 2025

      Interview

applied and was asked to do a assessment which was pretty straightforward. Then did a 20 min zoon interview with a recruiter. They explained a little about the job, salary, training and that I would be invited for a 2nd interview with the leadership team. A little strange interview also, they didn't really ask any questions about myself, just asked how many times I've shown up late for work in my past job and why I had a gap in my employment. A few days later I got a automated email that the job had been filled already. Seems just because you are told you made it to the 2nd and final round doesn't mean you will. They seem to hire first come first serve.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What do you know about the job? Why do you have a gap in your employment history? How many times have you been late to work in the past 5 years?

      Interview

I did a zoom interview, which wasn’t the issue. The issue was I felt like there were no questions asked linked directly to the job I was applying for. I’m use to more behavioral based questions and they asked a lot of random filler questions, had me guessing why are they even interviewing me??

      Question 1

Employment gap history… which I thought was illegal
