      Emerging Leaders Program Interview

      12 Sept 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chevy Chase, MD
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO (Chevy Chase, MD) in Aug 2019

      Interview

Followed a pretty typical process, applied online, filled out a written questionnaire, and then completed a phone screen. Following the completion of a phone screen completed a personality and pattern recognition test. Up to this point everything was very straight forward. The phone screen was originally scheduled for 30-45 minutes but went on for approximately an hour and 10 minutes. It consisted of a lot of questions about my personal experience and behavioral based questions about leadership. Afterwards, I was interviewed in person at Geico's headquarters. Overall this was a good experience, they paid for my flight and hotel room which was nice. However I would rate my overall experience at the headquarters as mediocre. There were miscommunications about my arrival and I ended up interviewing later than I had planned. I had two 1 on 1 interviewers, the first was both professional and courteous. Pretty typical interview that I thought went very well. The second interviewer was the complete opposite. They seemed completely disinterested in the interview, as if they had written me off before I walked in the door which was frustrating. I felt overall that the interviews had gone well and that I was able to competently answer all of the questions asked of me. However, a day after the interviews I received a template style rejection letter with a very vague "its clear your academics and experience is strong, but we decided to go with other applicants". It's frustrating that after having flown out and dedicated many hours to interviewing and preparing that this is all the feedback that was provided. Overall not a terrible experience, prompt responses, and pretty honest hiring process. But definitely some improvement could be made, specifically within regards to feedback.
