Technology Development Program - Software Development Track Interview

      10 May 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GEICO in May 2022

      Interview

The interview is a 3-part process. 1. Fill out a questionnaire detailing your experience, salary expectations, graduation date, etc. 2. A behavioral discussion with the Recruiter about yourself and the things you have worked on. 3. A technical interview with someone on the team. I got to step 3 and the interviewer, a DevOps developer, was unprepared. Yes...UNPREPARED! You read that correctly. He stated that he didn't know what he was doing because Geico made him use a new software that he was unfamiliar with. He claimed, "he saw this meeting on his calendar and joined because he didn't know what it was about." I used the time to ask about work-life balance, Geico expectations, etc. We finished talking and he apologized and claimed he would reschedule a proper interview when he was prepared. 2 days later, I emailed my recruiter and asked him when is the next step in the interview process to which the recruiter responded, "I did not receive feedback from DevOps developer yet, but I will ask." 6 days later, I received a rejection email stating that I was no longer considered for the position. I was rejected, despite no wrongdoing on my part. I'm not sure what the DevOps developer said to my recruiter; however, I know that something unfair took place during my interview process. I was never given a chance to conduct a technical interview and I emailed my recruiter about my interviewer's unpreparedness to which I have yet to get a response. It's funny how they're punctual until they no longer want you. If this represents how Geico runs as a company, then I guess I dodged a bullet. But to Geico, do us all a favor and remove the jobs from your career page if you plan to waste our time. Thanks.
