The online interview was very straightforward, mainly focusing on the games and genres I enjoy and why. I answered honestly and directly, clearly explaining my preferences without exaggeration. The conversation felt natural and focused on my genuine gaming interests.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at GameRant.com in Aug 2024
Interview
I applied for a moderator position and was sent a sample moderator assessment. To be clear, I have several years of moderation experience and have written community and safety guidelines in previous roles. I want to preface this by saying the staffer I conversed with was kind; however, the evaluation was an absolute mess. I knew before I completed it that it would be rejected. The instructions provided no basic guidelines, so I had to hunt down the community guidelines on their website. It was difficult to even fill out my answers because of how the pdf was formatted. Even after completing the assessment as best as possible with the few details provided, I looked through the company's socials and website comments, and it is clear they don't enforce their own community guidelines. It's clear that this company is very much still trying to figure itself out and find it's footing. I recommend the company create a more comprehensive assessment with detailed instructions in a more accessible format. You will continue to lose out on capable employees if this is your method for judging candidates' abilities.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The assessment gave sample comments that asked you to rate whether you would react, reply, hide, or ban the comment and why, but did not provide any guidelines for how the comments should be assessed.
No interview, only email conversations happened before I finally signed the contract with the company in reference. Therefore, I guess no interviews are carried out, at least not for this role.
