I applied online through a job board I found. The job description said it was remote and didn't specify that it was remote only within Japan. Scheduling a call was complicated; I find it so ironic that a company whose star tool is recruiting software doesn't know what Calendly or any similar tool is. Once the appointment was confirmed, there was no follow-up about who the interview would be with. I assumed it was with HR, but that wasn't the case. It was a very pleasant interview with the team manager. It was in that interview that I found out the position is actually remote, but only in Japan. In conclusion: an unclear job posting description, no scheduling tools, and no informative follow-up about the first interview. A very bad experience. And it has nothing to do with being remote.
