      Senior Community Content Strategist Interview

      3 Mar 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Glassdoor

      Interview

I did not apply for this role but instead Glassdoor reached out to me laying out how much of a fit they thought it would be. My recruiter was excellent. The HM.. not so much. She took the interview from a Starbucks parking lot but complained about the noise around her as if this was dropped on her calendar out of nowhere. She made very little effort to learn more about my skills yet raved about how impressive my portfolio was in comparison to her own. The only thing she (a Caucasian woman) did make sure to mention was the ethnicities of the people on her team to appeal to me, a Black person. What was most disheartening was to not be selected after the take-home project which I had reviewed by a very high-level exec who agreed that I nailed the assignment. That said, my focus was creators of color and what do you know.. the person who landed the role doesn't look like a person of color. This experience was just not good. To have a company recruit you only to reject you and then hire someone who's background doesn't even appear to have as many experiences that lined up with the role is just not a good look. It's sad because I think the company is great but people like this HM really put a sour taste in my mouth for this brand.

      Question 1

I was barely asked anything tbh. Just had to sell myself as best I could.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and are truly sorry that your interview process did not meet expectations. At Glassdoor, we strive to create an inclusive, respectful, and professional candidate experience, and it’s clear that we fell short in your case. We are glad to hear that your recruiter provided a positive experience, but we regret that your interaction with the hiring manager did not reflect the level of professionalism and engagement we expect from our team. Your concerns about the interview setting, the depth of discussion around your skills, and the way diversity was addressed are important, and we take them seriously. We are committed to continuous improvement and will be reviewing this situation internally to ensure our hiring process is fair, transparent, and respectful to all candidates. Thank you again for your time and for considering Glassdoor. - Cortney Holt, Sr. Manager of Talent

      Interview

The interview process was very seamless from the start! There was a candidate portal that I greatly appreciated because it included interview tips, more info about Glassdoor, a schedule, messaging system with the recruiters, and more. Scheduling was also painless thanks to the work of the team. Everyone was incredibly friendly and the interviews felt more like conversations, which is always so refreshing!
