I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Google in Jul 2013
Interview
To get to the phone interview itself took over 15 days to schedule and I went through 3 recruiters. Pretty long just for a screening phone interview. The position is a tough position to get. Most of the product managers in Google are either former entrepreneurs who got bought out by Google or extremely successful individuals with Harvard or Stanford MBA's. The software engineering position is much easier to acquire in comparison in my humble opinion. I was not fluent on the phone interview and did not answer some of the questions well.

Question 1
What are three characteristics necessary for a successful product manager and what are three characteristics of a bad product manager?
You would have to do a hiring assessment first, then a recruiter screening follows. First round interview with the hiring manager. Majorly product sense and product improvement. The questions were not direct though.
Overall a lot of steps to the interview process. Talked to different people and had opportunities to ask questions. Many different stages which made it a lengthy process overall. Wasn't too bad.
resume screening, a recruiter call, and technical or role-specific interviews. Candidates complete coding, system design, or behavioral rounds. Onsite or virtual panels assess problem-solving, communication, and leadership. Feedback goes to a hiring committee, followed by team matching and final offer discussions.
