      Program Manager Interview

      17 Jun 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Hamburg
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Google (Hamburg)

      Interview

Was good interview. Application: The application process was straightforward. I applied online through Google's career website. I was required to submit my resume and a cover letter. After about two weeks, I received an email from the HR team to schedule an initial screening call. Interview Process: The entire interview process took about a month and consisted of an initial phone screen with HR, followed by three rounds of interviews. HR Screening: This was a casual conversation that lasted about 30 minutes. The HR representative asked general questions about my background, my interest in Google, and explained the role to me in more detail. Technical Round: This was a 1-hour video call with a senior program manager. The questions were mainly around program management principles, my approach to solving complex problems, and how I handle cross-functional teams. They also asked about my technical background and experience. It was not overly technical but required a good understanding of the field. Behavioural Round: This was a 1-hour video interview focusing on "Googleyness" – how I fit into the company's culture and handle difficult situations. Google uses the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result), and they were interested in specific examples from my past experiences. Panel Interview: The final round was a panel interview with three senior members from different teams. This interview was a mix of technical, behavioural, and situational questions. Overall, the interview process was rigorous but fair. The interviewers were respectful and genuinely interested in my experiences and how I would handle different scenarios. Difficulty Level: The difficulty level was moderately high, but it was in line with the responsibilities of the job role. Negotiation: Once I passed the interviews, Google made me an offer. There was some room for negotiation, and they were open to discussing my compensation package. Feedback: Google has a very structured interview process, and everyone I interacted with was professional and helpful. The interview questions were relevant, but it can be challenging if you are not well-prepared. Make sure to brush up on your technical and behavioural skills and know how to answer using the STAR method. One area of improvement could be the communication between the interviews; I had to wait a week or two without any updates. Overall, it was a positive experience. Even though I did not receive an offer, I learned a lot from the process and would encourage others to apply. The intensity of the interview process is indicative of Google's high standards and commitment to hiring the best talent.

I applied online. I interviewed at Google (Atlanta, GA)

      Interview

The interview scheduling was long and had multiple cancellations throughout the process, causing a delay and misalignment in expectations. The interviewer was not prepared/informed on what questions to ask which was really disappointing, especially considering company like Google.
