I applied online. I interviewed at Government Statistical Service (Edinburgh, Scotland)
Interview
The interview consists of two stages, the first stage is the data dissemination process, the second stage is competency based questions. First, the data comes and you are expected to develop predictions about it for half an hour. Then, 15 minutes later, the interview starts. first data dissemination presentation 5 minutes then interview.
The process starts with a dissemination test. You are given a dataset and asked to identify key features (insights) from the data and also create a plot from the dataset. After that, there will be a short break before the main interview starts, where you will talk about the data you were given and the insight you can see from the data. The interviewers will then ask you civil service questions
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Government Statistical Service in May 2025
Interview
2 hour total interview.
A dissemination task requiring you to present some insights based on a novel dataset, followed by more situational questions relating to work experience such as "Can you tell us about a time when you had to identify and obtain the most appropriate data to meet customer needs? This could be from academic or professional experience."
Interview questions [1]
