I applied through university. I interviewed at Grant Thornton (Cork) in Dec 2016
Interview
They asked me a few competency based questions, my career plans and why I wanted to work for the firm. Overall, the interview lasted about one hour and I received a phone call with an offer an hour after the interview. The process was of average difficulty.

Question 1
What do you know about Grant Thornton and why do you want to work there? Explain a situation where you worked in a group and give an example of a time where you overcame a challenge
The first round of interviews was a group interview with four people, followed by an English essay. Neither the interview questions nor the essay topic had anything to do with auditing, and the interview questions seemed to be fixed; some interviewees even knew the questions beforehand. If that's true, I think it's unfair.
The interview process at Grant Thornton typically involves multiple stages, including an initial phone screening, a behavioral interview, and a technical or case-based assessment. Candidates may also meet with managers or partners. The process emphasizes cultural fit, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities, often concluding with a final round or offer discussion
