      I interviewed at Guidehouse

      Interview

Standard behavioral interview, I went through 3 rounds, first with hiring manager, then with job manager, and then with a Partner. Overall process made sense and I got to know my management chain and was introduced to some potential teammates.

What am I looking for in my next role? What are challenges I had to overcome in previous roles.

      Saint Louis, MO
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Guidehouse (Saint Louis, MO) in Nov 2020

      Interview

Initial screening phone call with the recruiter then a panel interview w/ three managers about a week and a half later. Did take a while after that, though the recruiter did a good job of letting me know I was still being considered. Three weeks after the panel interview I finally got an invite to interview with a partner.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Panel Interview: Deep dive into one of my past consulting projects with some additional questions about other projects and various skill sets. Partner Interview: Brief 30-minute interview over a variety of areas but not too in depth in any given area.

      Management Consultant Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      McLean, VA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Guidehouse (McLean, VA) in Oct 2019

      Interview

The role was in the National Security Sector. The interview consisted of a phone screen, a phone interview with a manager on the project, and 2 in person interviews in their office in McLean. The phone screen and interview were friendly and mainly behavioral questions. I heard nothing for 3 weeks and assumed I did not get selected to move on. I got a late night Thursday call asking if I could come in first thing Friday morning. I said yes, then they moved the time to come in till 3pm Friday. At 12:15pm they emailed me, not a call, and bumped my interview up to 1pm (45mins from then), I reluctantly agreed. Upon arriving, the recruiter had me confused with someone else. Once that got cleared up, I proceeded to interview with a lead Partner. There was no room reserved and it was very obvious he did not want to interview. He more or less spent half an hour telling me how I should not go into this career field (even though I've been in it for the last 5yrs). Halfway through the interview someone came in room and said they were supposed to be interviewing. Once I wrapped up the first interview and was on my way out the door they said a Senior Manager would like to interview me. The Senior Manager was very chill and personable and asked alot of behavioral questions. At the end the recruiter said she would call me the following Tuesday with a decision either way. To no surprise, I never heard back. Long story short, the whole process was a considerable amount of chaos and confusion.
