I applied online. I interviewed at ICF (New York, NY) in Apr 2021
Interview
Screamingly fraudulent process. Dishonest recruiter. Made me do a two-hour editorial assessment but never showed it to the hiring manager. Ignored multiple follow-up emails and lied to me for two weeks about what was going on. Backed into a corner, they emailed me a rejection that basically said, "We all know this process was sketchy, but we don't owe you an explanation about what happened." I asked to speak to the recruiter's supervisor and they ghosted me.
Nice people! But sure, we have a "labor shortage."
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate the input our candidates send to us so we can adjust our recruitment procedures. The test you mention is a step in our interview process where candidates are given a copywriting and editing assignment that typically takes an hour to complete. Candidates who score high enough on the test and match other requirements move on to the first round of interviews with the hiring managers. This is industry standard, especially for a role where technical skill is a requirement. We strive to be clear about this process so our candidates have the right expectations and can make the right personal decision about taking on this work. We explain this assessment and it's place in our process both in email and on the phone. We apologize if there was a breakdown in communication in your case. We have looped in our recruitment team leadership about your issue so we can consider where we might want to improve our communications about this test. We wish you the best.
