I recently interviewed for the SAS Programmer role at IQVIA Bangalore, and the experience was pretty disappointing, especially for a company with such a strong reputation.
First, there was a serious lack of transparency. Despite asking multiple times, I never got a clear job description or any real details about the role or interview process. After the first-round technical screening, I was invited to the second round without any explanation of what to expect, which made it really hard to prepare properly.
The actual interview was uncomfortable. While I get that interviewers want to understand a candidate’s background, some of the questions felt irrelevant and way too personal. I was asked about my decision to return to India from U.S., which I didn’t mind answering, but then it went further asking about my family background, my parents' jobs, and even a comment implying that I was only applying to have something lined up when I returned. That felt unnecessary and completely unrelated to the role.
Questioning my personal matters, which had nothing to do with my ability to do the job, left me with a really negative impression of the company.
I respect their decision not to move forward with my application, but I think the interview process needs to be a lot more professional.
