I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Illumina (San Diego, CA) in Sept 2018
Interview
About 2 weeks after submitting application, I received an email prompt to complete the video interview. You have an opportunity to practice before you begin the actual interview. There are no do-overs and you get about 1-2 minutes to answer each question. In total there were 7 questions: 4 general questions, and 3 specific to position. After two weeks I got a follow up to schedule a phone interview with talent acquisition, but unfortunately for me the position I applied for was filled internally.

In the technical round, I was asked to solve Java problems like star pattern printing, string manipulation, and logic-based tasks like checking even/odd numbers and parsing strings. One question was about accessing specific characters from the end of a string.
pre-recorded video interview. very complicated and nerve-racking. not good for those who are introverts and nervous in front of camera. I wish they had more guidelines or more practice opportunities.
