I met with the hiring manager who was really great and easy to talk to. After the first call she asked for my salary range which I provided and she said it was within the range they were hiring for. Moved on to the second interview with the manager of the hiring manager. Everyone was great and it was a comfortable setting which felt like a natural conversation. We scheduled an interview with the founder before getting off the phone. I had a 30 min interview with the founder and he was kind as well. I received an offer that was 10K lower than the lowest end of the range I provided. I asked if the salary was negotiable and they said they would get back to me. Instead of giving a counter offer or saying they couldn't offer more, they simply told me they moved forward with another candidate. I've never experienced anything like this before... Shocked that a company that seemed genuine and fair would handle themselves so poorly. I would avoid them at all costs if possible.
