      Account Executive Interview

      8 May 2013

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Indeed (San Mateo, CA) in Apr 2013

      Interview

It is a rigorous hiring process. I submitted my resume and cover letter, and a few days later, I got an email from an internal recruiter at Indeed from the office to which I applied. The email was to set up a phone interview with the internal recruiter. Phone interview went well, and we set up in person interviews with the head of recruitment, and three sales directors for the following week. The internal recruiter provides you with the names of the individuals you are going to interview with so make sure that you study and memorize their Linkedin profiles so you can ask questions. In person interview went well. After two days, the head of recruitment gave me a phone call to let me know that I made it to the next stage. You are given a week at most to prepare a presentation where you have to role play an in person sales scenario where you have to sell Indeed to a company. The head of recruitment provided me with the details of the scenario and also gave me some slides. You don't have to put together your own slides but it does look good if you contribute some data that is going to help you close the sale. Presentation was in front of 4 people in my case. I presented to 3 sales directors and the senior director of sales. Make sure you qualify them when role playing the scenario and close your sale based on their pain points with the service or services that they are currently using. Afterwards, I had to interview with the senior director of sales. Overall its a three week process. And they say that the presentation is the last step but I found out that there was going to be a reference check afterwards.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Indeed (Singapore) in Feb 2026

      Interview

The recruiter was based in Bangalore, India. At the start of the interview, he read through the job scope directly from his screen. He spoke very fast with a strong accent, which made it difficult for me to fully understand. After reviewing the role, he asked questions related to the sales process, motivation, strengths, sales targets, handling difficult customers, availability, and salary expectations. I asked for clarification more than once and answered the questions based on my understanding. The interview felt very transactional, with limited interaction beyond the scripted questions. Just some feedback, I feel I would have been able to respond more effectively if the questions were shorter and more direct. Some of the questions were quite lengthy. I have no issue with different accents, but speaking slower and clearer pace of speech would have improved comprehension.

I applied online. I interviewed at Indeed (New York, NY) in Dec 2025

      Interview

Fast paced but thorough. Was able to finish the process within 3-4 weeks. Fully remote and interviewed with several directors. The process felt personable and the directors took time to make sure that it was a good fit for me as well.

      Interview

Just a phone screen. It was clear the recruiter didn't fully read/misread my resume when she got on the call as I could hear her having her "oh oops" moment. Haven't heard since. At least she was candid that they don't promise any feedback or communication as a policy.
