I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Intel Corporation (Albuquerque, NM) in Aug 2011
Interview
Initial communication was via email. I filled out some forms online and then I was invited for a full day of interviews. They emailed me a schedule with the panel members for each interview slot. When I arrived at the site, a secretary met me and led me to the room where I would have my first interview.
The first interview was with one of the factory managers who asked me a technical question based on material that was on my resume. I had to go to a board in the room and draw diagrams to explain the concept he wanted me to explain. I was also required to recall and derive some equations related to the question. That interview lasted for about 30 minutes, and immediately the factory manager left and I had a three person panel interview with 3 managers. I was asked questions related to my thinking process, how I interacted with people, and other general interview questions. After that I was given a presentation with an explanation of benefits.
After the benefits presentation I gave a seminar to some of my interviewers on my own graduate work. I then went to lunch with 3 interviewers, and was interviewed during lunch. There were two other 2-person interviews after lunch where I was asked technical and behavioral type questions. Overall it was a long day but it was nothing that was too strenuous.

Interview
Process begins with a phone screen with recruiter, followed by hiring manager discussion, then onsite interviews consisting of several one-on-one sessions, where candidates are usually expected to deliver a presentation.
It was pretty straightforward overall. They mainly asked questions about my resume, previous work experience, and the projects and research work I completed during my graduate studies. The conversation was conversational and focused on understanding my background and technical experience.
