      Manufacturing Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at JonnyPops (Elk River, MN) in Oct 2025

      Interview

I went through 5 interview stages over the duration of a month. The first was a phone screen with the hiring manager. Second was an interview with a chairman of the company in which I was asked behavioral questions. Third was also a behavioral interview with the plant manager. These three interviews went smoothly, with the proceeding interview being scheduled and confirmed 1 day after the previous interview. The fourth stage was a plant visit, in which they paid for travel and lodging expenses. I was given a practical/technical test for 1 hour, followed with a discussion of said test, and then an impromptu interview with a VP. The people I met with were a bit tardy and dealt with a few scheduling conflicts which I was dissapointed with because it showed disorganization and a lack of consideration, because this had been planned for 2 weeks prior. I thought it went really well considering I received positive feedback from the interviewers. The next morning I was told that there would be an additional and final interview, but this time with the CEO of the company. We had a good conversation and was told I will hear back soon. The whole interview stage process went very smoothly as the recruiter was dilligent with follow up emails and scheduling, but a few days after speaking with the CEO: radio silence. I did not receive the level of attention I did throughout the interview process. It felt very unprofessional. I was told that I would hear back with a decision within the next 2 business days, and I heard back with an auto-rejection email 3 weeks later. It was very frusturating and dissapointing considering the recruiter did not have the decency to email me personally despite the rapport we established during the interview process. Overall, I'm glad I read other Glassdoor reviews from other people reporting that they got ghosted during the process. I was nervous that it would've happened to me, but I didn't expect it after I jumped through all the hoops. I felt very led on considering I was told phrases that led me to believe I had an offer at the end of the interview process. Another aspect that really annoyed me was that it took nearly double the time to reimburse my expenses that I incurred from the site visit (told 2-3 business days, took 2 weeks), which was very inconvenient and required outreach to multiple people from Jonnypops in order to get resolved.
