I filled out an online application for a few positions at a nearby store. The online application requires you to answer some very basic questions, and you just need to answer based on what you think they would want to hear. The potential answers to a question went from, essentially, worst to best, so don't pick any of the middle options.
A week or two later, I got a call wherein they scheduled me for an interview a few days later. For the interview, I had to go to the customer service desk and ask for the interviewer. They told me to take a seat where one other person was sitting. The interviewer waited for the other candidate who was supposed to show up, but eventually we started the interview without her.
The other candidate and I were brought into the office area and interviewed together by one person. Unlike most of the experiences I've read from others, this interview was very informal, and the interviewer asked us a few of the generic Kohl's interview questions as well as a few other questions related to our personality and goals.
After only a few questions, the interviewer called us back into her office one by one. While in there, she asked which department you would feel most suited for, when you could work, etc. The other candidate was called in before me, and after she interviewed me, she told me they would call back by Friday if I was accepted and said I could leave.
Friday passed without a phone call. A week or two later, I got a generic email telling me that I was not accepted.
