Fairly standard but lengthy online application including CV and Cover letter and around 8 questions asking specifics about your previous experience, how that assists you in being a good candidate and also how you would handle the job including moving to regional NSW.
A few weeks later I was invited for an interview in the Lachlan Shire Council Chambers. Interview was fairly standard but not intimidating despite this being one of my first formal interviews for a position. Guy Marchant who was the primarily deciding and managing my application was very knowledgeable and gave a really good impression. Not only did he really understand the job answered all of my questions well and thoroughly but also held obvious value on the importance of integrity and competence in a building surveyor. Guy and his team are clearly proud of working for the people of Condobolin and the Lachlan area and I will always wonder how much I would have enjoyed living and working with the team, if I had been able to accept the position. The turn-around on the decision was very fast and before I had even signed on they were recommending me the best places to rent and making sure my move and application was moving smoothly, as well as organizing my moving fees with another colleague.
