I'm not really sure where to begin with this one - possibly the worst recruitment experience I've had.
I originally applied for Lidl on the 22nd August on their website. It has very generic questions, e.g. personal details, CV, availability, sought after contract etc etc.
I heard back on the 3rd September that I was successful and asked to book a slot for a telephone interview. I have to say that I cannot fault the recruitment and HR teams who were efficient and really communicative.
I then had an in-person interview on the 11th, where the manager was a few minutes late, and although he was really lovely and thorough the communication from the store was incredibly poor. I was asked a few questions about my experience, what I was looking for in a job and some situational-based questions about teamwork, deadlines etc. I was told I would hear back in 48 hours, with a rejection email from recruitment or a telephone call from the store manager if successful.
I waited until around 3 days after and emailed the recruitment team asking for this to be chased up. Again, they were really prompt and chased it up, apologising as the store manager wasn't in. (This was now on the 15th). I received an email from recruitment asking me to fill in right to work etc and saying I was successful. The day after I was asked if I'd been spoken to about a start date - still heard nothing from the store itself. I was confirmed I was meant to be starting on the 2nd October.
I emailed back straight away saying I couldn't do this day as I was in uni and heard nothing back. I had to phone the recruitment line, and another store manager got in touch with me a few days later saying my induction had to be on a Thursday as this was their only slot. I explained I cannot do Thursdays due to uni and had made this very apparent in my interview.
I then rang the recruitment line back who explained that I was meant to start on the 9th - when again I exaggerated I couldn't do a Thursday, they said someone will get in touch with me.
I received my contract on the 1st October and held off signing it until I heard from the store manager. The only time I have heard from the store manager was on the 9th October, when he messaged me in the morning asking whether or not I was coming in. I politely replied and explained I was at uni from 9-6 that day and therefore couldn't.
Lastly, today I was called by HR who told me the store manager had been trying to get in touch with me however I'd not replied. This really confused me, and obviously I kept searching for work while waiting for them to get back in touch - safe to say I've declined the job and will be avoiding this company in the future.
