Long drawn out process for nothing. Applied to a posting on Indeed. A few weeks later a phone interview with the hiring manager took place. Fairly generic but at least the manager opened up about some of the restructuring going on. A week or so later an in person interview was arranged.
Just getting to the interview conference room was rather depressing as you just walked past rows and rows of cubes, the whole place was dark and dingy.
Face to face interviews were with HR, mostly telling me what the benefits were, then with three peers holding the same position and lastly with the hiring managers boss. Nice people and nothing really hard in the questions. The hiring manager followed up as the last person and had a nice chat.
About a week later the Sr. VP which would be 2 steps above the hiring manager wanted to call. Had a great conversation as luckily I hit on a subject that they were currently struggling with. Her last question was of course if I had any questions. i said since I would be working with sales and the development teams and all that I have talked to so far were product managers, I would like to talk to some of those people.
About a week later had the call with the sales manager and engineering manager. Again nothing hard and a pleasant conversation.
After going through all of that, dead silence. Of course I could have followed up but during this whole process had a good conversation with an ex-coworker currently working there. He described it as having some extremely brilliant people and the quirkiness that goes along with it. That the people were too smart to have any common sense.
