Interview
The woman who interviewed me, who apparently is also the COO of the company, was almost 20 minutes late to the zoom call. I was about to exit when she joined the call and with no hint of shame or apology, noted that she “got caught up”. She then told me up front, this would be just a quick call as it’s the first of a few stages. Sure. She proceeds to ask me a few questions, none of which she seemed interested in the answers to, as she had a look of distraction/feigned interest whenever I looked at her on the screen. She then asked about my salary expectations, which I shared based on my 10 years of experience and the market in my area. She responds with a number nearly 30k below mine, adding, “but with your experience I’m sure you’ll have no problem finding a job more in line with your pay expectations” and promptly ends the call after an abrupt and awkward goodbye. If you have any desire to be treated with even a modicum of respect or decency, stay far, far away from this company.

Interview
Within a few hours of applying I received an invitation for a virtual meeting scheduled for half an hour. I took the time to prepare, research the company, and rehearse common interview questions. I also took the time to get ready to look professional. The meeting started a few minutes late on the side of the interviewer, about 4-5 minutes. I was about to hang up and email her but then she came on. Immediately, she made no effort to connect and went straight to the background listed on my resume. She was very short, almost coming across as rude. She seemed put off by the fact that I haven't worked in six months and asked me why. I said I was job searching this whole time. She seemed annoyed by my answer. Next she asked my salary range, which I gave, and she never said if that was within their range. I was never asked any questions regarding my skills or qualifications. She ended the interview within 7 minutes of starting. She did mention this was a preliminary screening, but I don't know why it couldn't have been a phone call. It was a waste of my time and really showed the unprofessionalism of the interviewer and the company.
