      Actuarial Interview

      4 Oct 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Norwalk, CT
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Mercer (Norwalk, CT) in Mar 2015

      Interview

Phone interview, then a lengthy interview at the company meeting with about 6 different people on all different levels. Was intimidating to suddenly be at the desk from an elder, senior actuary who didn't ask questions and wanted to know my questions about the future of the company and the retirement consulting industry which I really wasn't interested in - I want to work in health I would take a retirement side internship just for the experience.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you want to be a retirement actuary? (Difficult bc that is not what I wanted to be at all heaven help all of you who do)

      Interview

Two interviews as well as a test delivered in Excel. The test is pretty straightforward but it’s worth to review some formulas and shortcuts. Interviewers are friendly and they do really want to know you more as a person.
