I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Mohawk Heating (Duanesburg, NY) in Oct 2020
Interview
I arrived 15 minutes early for a 10am interview, I remained waiting in the office lobby by receptionist until 10:20. I was then lead to the conference room by who I assume was the HR head, she was pleasant and collected my documents, engaging in “feeling you out” banter, all pleasant. I then was left in the conference room until nearly 11am before the actual interview began with the HR lady, 2nd (or was it 3rd) generation owner, and line manager. -Pretty standard interview for the trades. Asked a few probing questions as to my knowledge of heating and cooling systems with thoughtful getting to know you questions peppered in. -really nice people, but I walked out of that interview knowing I wouldn’t accept their offer regardless of what it was. If I had been an hour late to the interview with the excuse of “sorry I’m just so busy” the interview would have never happened. Too busy to be on time just means you’re not organized, or don’t respect people or their time. I had the exact same experience with my previous employer and I was too young or eager to see it for the foreshadowing it was. -I hear good things about the company but previous experience would not allow me to abide. If you’re a tradesman be aware that this is our golden age because we’re so rare. Stay choosy.

Question 1
This was probably the only remotely challenging question “why should we hire you?”
