The hiring process was pretty standard. They advertised an “Engineering” role at $70,000 while being 5 days on site in California. For those who don’t know - that is poverty wages out here. But I applied out of curiosity and, a day later, got the interview invite in my gmail inbox.
I had a live interview with the recruiter that went well. He was really nice. He was able to answer my questions like why ITSG rebranded to NP, etc. Then was the technical interview with someone on the team, who was also down to earth.
Well, I learned more about the role then. They want someone who will do IAM, onboarding and offboarding all day. It made sense why they were only paying $70,000 - there is no engineering to it. This is typically how MSPs operate though - they give a nice title and have you do help desk. The technical questions were…ok. Again, this was a help desk role so they were questions you can find the answer in 2 seconds by googling or asking AI. And no questions about engineering.
Anyway, I looked back at the job listing a couple of days later and they changed it from “Engineer” to “IT Support” so hopefully they find applicants which match the job title.
