I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (College Park, MD) in Feb 2011
Interview
My interview (for the College Technical Intern position at Northrop Grumman) was unlike many other tech firms' interviews. The company really focuses on well-rounded personality -- meaning they're more interested in your ideas, visions and capability than your knowledge from classes. I had two interviewers; both of them asked me behavioral/personality questions, but there was a subtle difference in those questions.

Question 1
What made you decide to attend the current university?
Spoke directly with hiring manager for an entry level position. They were going through restructuring so had to cancel the position I was interviewing for but still offered me an internship position which was nice of them. Very short interview. Not many behavior (STAR-related) questions.

Question 1
Mostly technical experience related to resume. The role I was interviewing for was very ANSYS and ABAQUS oriented, so we talked about my experience with those softwares.
I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (Beavercreek, OH) in Jan 2025
Interview
Very friendly and open. The interviewer was highly engaging connected with me over personal interests. They also shared expectations for the role and required skillsets openly, mentioning that no technical skills were required initially.

Question 1
They asked me why I chose to double major in the things I did.

Interview
Zoom call with no technical interview. More like asking general questions and getting to know you, They do ask about if you've used x thing before but it wasn't very substantial.
