I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Richmond, VA) in Jan 2011
Interview
I went through three intensive interviews before I was offered a contract. The first interview is very personal and they really get to know you as a person and a potential employee. The second interview is more focused on allowing you to get to know the company, the culture, and the specific office. Finally, the third interview is a presentation that you develop and give to the senior leadership of that office. This is by far the hardest part of the interview process, as you must develop a powerpoint presentation and basically "sell yourself" to the company. All the questions asked in all three of the interviews were pretty standard and fairly easy to answer. Make sure you do your research on Northwestern before going into the first interview!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The most difficult thing for me was doing the powerpoint presentation and selling myself to the company. They will ask you many questions after the presentation, so be prepared to better explain yourself after you make the presentation. Dress to impress.

Interview
Interviews were very easy. Didn't feel like there was any competition. Met with a recruiter, director of growth, and didn't go through with final interview. Needed to fill out referrals sheet and conduct interviews that concluded with asking if they would be interested in my service.
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Northwestern Mutual (Rockland, MA) in Mar 2024
Interview
Teams call with the director of recruiting who was herself a skilled salesperson and had her script memorized to a tee. This was clearly a commission sales job where the candidate would have to use their own connections to generate their own leads. But, the product isn't terrible or outside my wheelhouse so I was interested in continuing with the process. I then failed their outdated "personality test", the type which has been debunked as completely ineffective, so the director of recruiting told me my candidacy was "on pause".
