Initial Conversation - More of a personality test, discussion with one of the engineers about the company and its operations, what they look for and so on. Formal Interview - with Engineering Manager and President of the company. Engineering manager, Peter, made some weird/inappropriate jokes during the interview, was very intense, and made me slightly uncomfortable. They described a "dynamic/fast paced" environment which seemed to be code for "we're going to push you to your limits" not a bad thing per se, but if you are prone to burn out I would avoid. I stuck to similar talking points that went over really well with the initial interviewer, but with these two gentlemen they seemed to not like that at all. The inconsistency threw me, and personally felt I bombed the interview due to that. Despite the fact that it was an intense, grilling type of interview, I did appreciate the questions that were asked, as they were relevant and insightful. They let me know that they were in some ways "testing" my ability to respond under pressure through this interview style. They all seemed like nice enough people, though Peter's "jokes" and intensity made me a bit uncomfortable; it felt like he just mainlined a double espresso or something.
