I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Palantir Technologies (Washington, DC) in Oct 2023
Interview
After I applied, I was sent a 3 question HackerRank technical assessment covering SQL, API calls, and an algorithms question. After that, I was contacted for an HR call, was asked fairly standard logistical and behavioral questions and moved on to a technical interview over video call. The question was related to playing a unique card game which lasted about 30-40 minutes with no behavioral questions. For 15 weeks, I received nothing about the job and assumed I was ghosted. Out of the blue, another recruiter reached out asking if I was still interested and explained I was continuing on to the next round. This round consisted of a technical decomp question and a learning interview. I had no prior experience in system design for the decomp question, but managed to do alright. However, the learning interview was with another Palantir engineer and his instructions were very unclear, leading to a lot of confusion and I didn't progress very far. Afterwards, I received an email stating I would not move forward - I'm assuming it was from my poor performance on the learning interview but I received no explicit explanation.

Interview
Overall the interview process was great, if not a bit long. The recruiting team was very responsive and friendly, oftentimes getting back to me very quickly after rounds.
However, the number of rounds and the time between them still drew the process out to be a bit longer than I expected.
Questions were not the most 'technically' challenging, but it definitely felt more so that the assessment was done with small questions looking to see if the way you think and approach problems, as well as your willingness to work with the interviewer.
Got to meet a lot of interesting people through the process working on different projects. Definitely a great way to learn about the company and the work you may be doing.
