Hr screening, two rounds of interviews with mid-senior level, edit test, final interview with editor in chief of company. Interviews were fair and not too difficult. They asked typical questions about the editorial process.
Was contacted by recruiter for a Zoom interview. Set up an interview for a week later but then found out they day before I had a conflict. Tried to reschedule but recruiter never responded. Only after I reached out to the hiring manager directly did they finally send out another invitation and recruiter kind of had an annoyed attitude about it. If I hadn't reached out to the hiring manager, I could easily see the recruiter just telling the hiring manager something inaccurate like I skipped the interview.
But I finally reschedule and have the Zoom interview. I'm camera on and recruiter is camera off, and recruiter asks that I go camera off per their email's instructions (although their email never actually said anything of the sort when I double checked after lol, and, also, why not just have a phone call if you're going to have a designated off-camera Zoom call)? Interview itself is very formal like recruiter is just reading from a script, less an interview and more just information gathering and sharing.
Recruiter tells me that hiring manager will reach out to me directly following week if they want to move forward and I'll get a reject notice if not. I get neither. Instead, I get another invitation to interview from a recruiter on the other side of the country. I submit my time info but the recruiter reaches out to me the next day to tell me that was a mistake and apologies (they don't clarify either if I'm still in the running or not).
Overall pretty bad and unprofessional experience. Kind of glad I didn't get the job as it's likely even more messy on the inside if the recruitment is this disorganized.
My initial interview was with HR and then the head of the brand under the PMC umbrella. I was progressing to the next phase of the interview process which was to speak with the team. This never happened and after a couple of months of following up, I was informed that they selected another candidate.
