Short and to the point in terms of how you handle situations and customers. Offer guidance in what they are looking for. Prior experience is not necessary but will always help.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PetSmart (Ottawa, ON) in Aug 2017
Interview
Went in on a "national hire day" ie job fair.
Was asked to fill out a shirt basic questionnaire.
Was asked to "sell" a product and add-on to the interview
Was brought to different parts of the store and was asked "why is it set up this way"
Another item was selected at random and I was asked to sell that as well.
I was told I would be paid above minimum, based on experience. As well as a point based commission system.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why is our store set up this way, with food and live animals towards the back?
It was a pretty retail interview experience. They talked about what working with pets and animals would be like and how to handle that, and also just things about retail in general.
I applied online. I interviewed at PetSmart (New Caney, TX) in Jul 2025
Interview
Nice friendly 3 interviews asked normal questions chatted a bit just waiting on a call back. Friendly staff and communication is important to them which I am glad about.
Went in for my first interview with one person then second with another and waiting on my third.
