      Help Desk Interview

      9 Apr 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Landover, MD
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at PowerTrain (Landover, MD)

      Interview

I applied for PowerTrain through my school, had a phone interview which was nothing special, got asked very generic questions like tell me a little bit about yourself etc.. Then got invited to come in for an interview so I happily accepted. They had me wait in the meeting room for a good 15 minutes (I was slightly early so it didn't bother me that much), then the manager came in and asked me a little bit about myself, again nothing crazy just generic questions. Then the help desk manager came in and interviewed me. It was slightly awkward because it was clear they didn't do much preparation for the interview and the help desk manager kept getting up and leaving the room to grab new people to come in and ask me questions. That aside, I thought the interview went pretty well. They seemed to be impressed by my use of technology at home and passion for computer science. I asked before I left if I would hear from them in the next week and they said yes, that they had a few more interviews they were waiting on but that I would hear from them shortly. Two weeks go by and nothing, so I email the manager and ask if there were any updates to which she said they were still interviewing candidates. Another month went by and I still haven't heard anything so I assume that they are not interested. I am disappointed in the lack of communication but that seems to be the status quo these days. All in all it was good interview experience for me if nothing else.
